Laurel Highlands TAP Summer Titleholder Results

Two brackets totaling 32 teams shot it out for a prize fund of $7,000 from August 24 to 26th at the Cooperstown Vets in Derry Pa.. This Titleholder is typically the smallest one of the three yearly Titleholders due to the summer slow down but was purposely restricted even more so this year due to the national play offs scheduled into this already busy weekend. But there was still plenty of stiff competition and hill-hill matches.

When our grandchildren were very young, they would sit on our pool table and roll the pool balls. They loved the sound as the balls hit together, and would clap their hands and laugh with excitement when a ball went into a pocket. As they grew older, they stood on the side of the table, seeing who could roll the balls into the pockets. After watching their Papa (my husband, Sam) play pool one day, they decided that they wanted to be just like him.

Chicago, Illinois-  The Association of Billiard Professionals is pleased to announce the updated rankings for the ABP. Currently USA’s Mike Dechaine of Maine leads the USA men’s pro tour. Last year’s #1 ranked Shane Van Boening of South Dakota, USA is in close second place and India’s Raj Hundal is in third place being the highest ranked Indian in pool history thus far.  Stevie Moore, Dennis Hatch, Brandon Shuff, Shawn Putnam, and Corey Deuel round out the top 8.

I was reintroduced to the sport of billiards in 1996 by my now husband of 15 years, John Fargo. At that time I was a single Mom with two teenagers. John was a Firefighter for the City of New London, CT, an active partner of the local pool room, Crown Billiards and also a single Dad. John convinced me I should play 8 Ball for the “œother” league as a diversion from my job working with adults with disabilities in a Community Experience Program.

(Shanghai)–With a grand finale performance that spoke of true greatness, the Philippines Dennis Orcollo capped an amazing week in Shanghai, winning the 2012 China Open Sunday afternoon with a brilliant 11-9 win over never-say-day Lu Hui Chan of Chinese-Taipei in front of several hundred people at the Shanghai Pudong Yuanshen Stadium arena.

 

(Shanghai)–Britain’s Kelly Fisher came into Sunday’s final at the China Open feeling pretty good about her game. But even she had no idea just how good things were about to get.

With an eye squarely on the prize, and clearly on greatness as well, Fisher put in an electrifying performance as she completely routed an overmatched Zhou Doudou of China, 9-2, to capture the 2012 China Open.

Wu Jing, the 12th ranked female player in China, had played 2009 World 9-ball Champion Liu Shasha on numerous occasions and never tasted victory against her famous compatriot.  But tonight on the TV table inside the Shanhai Pudong Yuanshen Stadium, the very unheralded Wu finally pulled it off. And what a time to do it.

FINLAND are the 2012 PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool champions as they put paid to the dreams of Poland, winning 10-8 in a tight final in front of a packed crowd in Manila. It was blend of youth and experience as 39 year-old Mika Immonen, who has operated at the highest level for the past 15 years, paired up with 24 year-old Petri Makkonen to deliver the goods time and again.

TAP Canada Celebrates Ten Years!

So what’s next for TAP Canada? “œIn May 2013, we’ll be hosting our first annual TAP Provincial Classic, with total prizes exceeding $75,000,” says Williamson, proudly. “œWe expect over 100 teams ““ 8 ball and 9 ball – to attend. This will be the largest pool tournament in Canada. All of us on the TAP Canada team are very excited!”
