APA Donates $5,000 to Relief Efforts in Japan

LAKE SAINT LOUIS, MO (April 8, 2011) “” The American Poolplayers Association (APA) has made a $5,000 donation to the Red Cross to aid in relief efforts following the earthquake in Japan in early March.

APA has been conducting leagues in Japan since 2007 as the Japanese Poolplayers Association (JPA).  There are nearly 1,300 players currently participating in the JPA.

Pedro Piedrabuena of San Diego wowed three-cushion enthusiasts, thousands of pool players and internet viewers with a career-best performance and clear domination of the field at the Invitational Champion of Champions three-cushion billiards tournament at the Allen Hopkins Super Billiards Expo held at the Valley Forge Convention Center March 10-13th 2011.

Tenzin, stronger than Steele, wins 5th Annual Robert Dionne Memorial

Choneyi Tenzin got by Gareth Steele twice to go undefeated in the 5th Annual Robert Dionne Memorial tournament, held on Sunday, March 20, under the auspices of the Lucasi Hybrid New England 9-Ball Tour. The $1,000-added event commemorated the death of Robert Dionne, father of tour director, Marc Dionne, who died the day preceding the first event held in his name. Proceeds from the event are slated to go to the St. Jude Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. Hosted by Buster’s Billiards in Somersworth, NH, the event drew 77 entrants.
