BCA Hall of Fame Inductees Honored

The Billiard Congress of America held the annual Hall of Fame inductions Thursday night at the Marriot Hotel in Chesapeake in conjunction with the US Open 9-Ball Championships. Francisco Bustamante was inducted in the Greatest Player category and Larry Hubbart and Terry Bell were inducted in the Meritorious Service category for their efforts in creating and building the APA.

Ouschan takes Atlanta Classic

The WPBA Atlanta Classic was held September 30th ““ October 3rd, 2010, at the beautiful Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia. The event featured 64 of the top female players in the world. The inaugural Atlanta Billiard Show also kicked off and provided a variety of amateur events which included an Open Amateur, Senior Amateur, Women’s Amateur and Junior divisions. The ABS also hosted the Ultimate Trick Shot Tour’s Southeast Classic.

Bryant & Garland Take Port Arthur

“œSlim but mighty” describes the field of 35 who converged on Crazy 8’s Family Pool Hall in Port Arthur, Texas on October 16th-17th. Among the players were Charlie Bryant, Ernesto Bayaua, T.J. Davis, Shane Harvey, and Tony Nguyen who competed in the $1,000 added open division with Teresa Garland, Loretta Lindgren and Bobbie Nguyen who helped make up the field for the $350 added ladies event.

ACS Presents Lucasi Hybrid All American Tour Results from Legends Sports Bar

The third stop on the 2010-2011 Lucasi Hybrid All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance ““ ACS) moved to Clinton, Iowa, on Saturday, October 9, at Legends Sports Bar.  The $500 added event featured forty-one players in a double-elimination 8-ball format on 7-foot bar boxes.  Jesse Bowman (E. Moline, IL), rated a “œ7″ on a regional handicap system used, took down the A-side, completing his undefeated trek via wins over Scott Hargens [6] (Cedar Rapids, IA) in the semifinals 7-3 and Cory Youngblut [4] (Iowa City, IA) in the finals 7-1.  Youngblut had earlier vanquished Will Kohl [5] (Dewitt, IA) 4-4 in the semifinals just prior to his loss to Bowman.

Amanda Lampert Back-2-Back OB Cues Ladies Tour Wins

Fast Eddie’s in Round Rock, Texas was the scene for the 8th OB Cues Ladies Tour stop the weekend of October 9th-10th. In fact, this was the second time this year that they have hosted the OBCLT event and we greatly appreciated their fantastic food, hospitality and friendly faces from the management and staff. Myers to Daytona and in between came together in Stuart, Florida, to compete in the Flamingo Billiards Tour “œCues for the Cure” breast cancer fundraising event, held in conjunction with the American Cuesports/Lucasi Hybrid All-American Tour.

KELLY FISHER DEFEATS MONICA WEBB TO CAPTURE HER SECOND WIN ON THE 2010 KWIKFIRE TOUR

Congratulations to Kelly Fisher for defeating Monica Webb 9-4 to win her second KWIKFIRE Tour event of 2010. We’d like to thank Max Terry and his staff at Burrkat Billiards in Monroe, NC for their hospitality during the weekend’s event.

The field was as strong as ever with 6 top 16 WPBA professionals in the line up, including Kelly Fisher, Allison Fisher, Gerda Hofstatter, Kim Shaw, Line Kjorsvik, and Monica Webb who nearly nabbed the recent WPBA Atlanta Classic title. Coupled with tough semi-professional talent, and the inclusion of the top professionals, the KWIKFIRE events always provide the fans and players the opportunity to watch and enjoy highly competitive pool on both Saturday and Sunday.

Ortmann Wins The World Tournament: Becomes Historic 3x World Champion

Clifton, New Jersey- Oliver Ortmann has made history once again. Germany’s Ortmann cemented his pool legacy with a sound victory over World #1 Mika Immonen of Finland. This is his third World Championship title, which is a new record for Europeans. Previously only Mika Immonen (Finland) and Thorsten Hohmann (Germany) held two World Championship belts aside from Ortmann. The only other man to win three World Championships sanctioned by the WPA is USA’s Earl Strickland. The Predator World Tournament of 14.1 was produced by Dragon Promotions and hosted by Breaker Billiards and owner Ricky Coren. This is the 70th edition of the straight pool event, making it the world’s oldest tournament

Shot 3- demonstrates a common application of follow. Trying to double the rail by going thin off the white is impossible because the angle into the first rail would be too steep. With a full hit, however, the cue ball steps sideways before diving forward, hitting the first rail at such a shallow angle that the shot becomes relatively easy.

GA YOUNG KIM WINS THE 2010

“œI feel like I just won an Olympic Gold Medal,” said a thrilled Ga Young Kim moments after capturing the 2010 Mohegan Sun International Tournament of Champions title. The spirited $20,000 winner-take-all event was held at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, October 6.
Kim, from South Korea and the 2010 U.S. Open Champion, defeated Jasmin Ouschan of Austria, the 2009 WPBA Player of the Year, in a sudden death final match and was crowned the new Women’s “œChampion of Champions.” The two semifinals and the Championship match were taped for broadcast by ESPN beginning in December .
