2013 Junior National 9-Ball Champions Crowned: Hampton, Miller, Rivas, and Larson

August 8, 2013 (Englewood, CO): The Billiard Education Foundation (BEF) concluded its 25th Annual Junior National 9-Ball Championships July 25-28, 2013. 131 billiard student-athletes represented 29 states at the Convention Center of the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada for this special anniversary event. After the four day junior billiard extravaganza, four champions were crowned from each division and awarded trophies, gift bags full of sponsored prizes, custom engraved Delta-13 Select racks, academic scholarships, and entry into the 2013 WPA World Junior 9-Ball Championships.

Boynton Beach, Fla. ““ Not to be deterred after getting knocked out early at last month’s event, Jeannie Seaver came to win the Flamingo Billiards Tour Stop #5 on Saturday. Thirty-two players filled the board at Slate Billiards in Boynton Beach, Florida, including Amy Poulter, who has been absent from the tour for more than a year.  But Poulter, room owner of Amy’s Billiards in Stuart, Florida, was back in great form, finishing second only to Seaver.

That’s the intriguing scenario this week as the world’s best women pool players take center stage in the beautiful and historical city of Shenyang, China, as the 2013 WPA Women’s World 9-ball Championship gets underway with qualifiers August 6-8, and the main event August 9-12.

This is the 5th straight year that the Women’s World 9-ball Championship has taken place in Shenyang, which sits very near the border with North Korea. The city’s history goes back 2300 years and was once the very center of Chinese culture and society in the 1600’s, before Beijing emerged as the new capital.  Today the bustling metropolis of nearly 8 million people is one of  China’s key manufacturing hubs.  The main attraction for visitors today is the sprawling grounds of the fascinating centuries old imperial palace

WPBL STATEMENT

The World Professional Billiard League’s 2013 season will continue to remain on hiatus during the next few weeks. At present, an exact restart date of the Las Vegas based league has yet to be announced.

 

During the last few weeks, the WPBL has worked tirelessly to rectify the unforeseen circumstances which have interrupted the league’s 2013 season. The management will continue to make the WPBL players a priority in every business decision made. With that said, it was discussed that a possible restart date of August 1, 2013 may have been plausible.  However, in order to align the additional finances as well as strengthen the business model, the WPBL will need to remain on hiatus for the time being. New York City, New York-  One of the most decorated European players in the history of pocket billiards will finally be inducted into a Hall of Fame this year. Germany’s Oliver Ortmann will be inducted to the Straight Pool Hall of Fame along with New York City’s legendary Gene Nagy. The banquet will be held at SteinwayThe banquet will be held at Steinway Billiards on August 21, 2013 in the middle portion of the 73rd Olhausen World Tournament.
