Mika Immonen and Jose Parica Earn Recognition in Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame

August 6, 2013 ““ The Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame proudly celebrates and welcomes two of pool’s most dominate players in 2014. The United States Billiard Media Association today announced that two-time world pool champion Mika Immonen and Jose Parica, the leader of pool’s “œPhilippine Invasion” in the 1980s, have earned induction into the Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame in the Greatest Players category.

Shane Van Boening Defends his SBX Pro title winning the 2104 Championship.  This was Shane’s fifth SBX title, one in 9-Ball and four in 10-Ball.  This is also a Three-peat having won it in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Chip Compton wins 2014 Diamond Open 1-Pocket Pro Players Championship     New for 2014 was the Diamond Open 1-Pocket event.  The field was limited to 32 players and was full before the Expo opened. The event was scheduled for three days starting Friday and finishing on Sunday.
Karen Corr wins 2014 Predator Women’s Open 9-Ball Pro Players Championship The event was a single elimination event scheduled for two days starting on Saturday and finishing on Sunday.  The field was originally set for 16 players but had such a large interest it was expanded to 32 possible players.  The play was on 9 foot Diamond tables and the rules for 2014 were:

The Billiard Education Foundation (BEF) crowned four winners in the 24th Annual BEF Junior National 9-Ball Championships. Nearly 130 junior pocket billiard players from 28 states gathered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at Romine’s High Pockets on July 11th -15th. Players took aim to win a title, scholarships, prizes and an entry into the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) World Junior 9-Ball Championships.

(Doha, Qatar)–In one of the most thrilling and surreal finals ever witnessed in pool history, England’s Darren Appleton won the 2012 World 9-ball Championship, barely beating China’s Lee He Wen, 13-12 in front of hundreds of stunned fans inside Doha’s Al Sadd Sports Club.

With 17 Filipinos in the field of 128 players, including the legendary Efren Reyes, and Francisco Bustamante, the venue is never short of large and vocal crowds of Filipino overseas workers and this certainly spices up the already pressure filled atmosphere. They came out in force today as the winners of each group faced off for a quick chance out of the danger zone of the group stage and into the final 64, including Reyes who played in the first session.
