Dan Kolacz Wins at the World Class Billiards Tour Event

The 2010 USBA TOUR continued at World Class Billiards in Peabody, Massachusetts for an exciting “œB” level tournament. Twelve players entered so a round-robin format was used which gave everyone plenty of bang for their buck, eleven matches each in three days.

Ginky Wins His Second Predator Tour Event of the Season

On May 29-30, the Ozone Billiards Predator 9-ball Tour brought a crew of 64 players to Master Billiards for the $1,000 added eighth tour stop of the 2010 season.  The tour’s A/B/C/D division hosted a number of the New York area’s toughest amateur players”¦ including Mike Wong, Wali Muhammed, John Alicea, Scott Simonetti, Michael Yednak, and many others.

Among the field were also a number of NY’s top female players, including house player Diana “Snooky” Rojas, Borana Andoni, Yomaylin Feliz, 2010 BCAPL Women’s Open Champion Gail Glazebrook, Sandie Patarino, Kim Meyer, and Olga Gashkova.  Of these ladies, Borana Andoni, who often plays in Master Billiards’ weekly tournaments, was the highest finishing female in the event, tying for 9th place.

Mazin Shooni wins the First Stop of the 2010 TOUR!

The first stop of the USBA Tour was held in Hooksett, New Hampshire, at Cue & Cushion Billiard Lounge, owned by 2006 USBA Champion, Mazin Shooni. The guest of honor at the tournament was 3-time USBA Champion, Pedro Piedrabuena, owner of College Billiards in San Diego, California.

The 5-ball bank is set up so that the angles from the first-rail contact point to the side pocket and the corner pocket are the same. Note how the axis of the cue passes over the middle of the corner pocket and how the 5-ball is aimed at the second diamond.

They Came, They Played, They Conquered at the 2010 BCAPL National 8-Ball Championships.

While the temperature was unseasonably cool in Las Vegas during the 34th BCAPL National 8-Ball Championships, the pool playing was hot. Held May 14-22 at the Riviera Hotel & Casino, approximately 7000 amateur and professional players traveled from across the world to battle for their chunk of the $750,000 prize fund and be crowned the best in their respective divisions.

Behind the Eight: High School Billiards

It’s hard to believe that the high school billiards program here in Dallas, Texas has completed it 8th year of competition. The program started back in late September of 2001 when everyone was still in shock from the tragic day of 9/11.

Orcollo is World Pool Masters Champion

He Beats ‘Unknown’ Kuribayashi for Title

OVER 750 players from around the world attempted to win the 2010 PartyPoker.net World Pool Masters but in the end after five days of play at the Riviera Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, it was Dennis Orcollo of the Philippines who claimed the title and with it the $20,000 first prize.

He beat the relatively unknown 25 year-old Japanese player Toru Kuribayashi 8-3 in front of an enthusiastic Las Vegas crowd to cement his position of one of the world’s top players. For Kuribayashi it was a week of superb performances and his name will now be known throughout the pool world.

64 CAME but only four remain as the PartyPoker.net World Pool Masters at the Riviera Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas reaches its conclusion tonight with two semi-finals and the final.

The first is an all-Pinoy affair between Dennis Orcollo and Roberto Gomez, while the other features two players who won through to Vegas via the Masters extensive qualifying system ““ Germany’s Oliver Ortmann and Toru Kuribayashi of Japan.

World’s Largest Pool League Crowns Seven Amateur Champions in Las Vegas.

LAKE SAINT LOUIS, MO (May 14, 2010) “” More than $450,000 in cash and prizes were awarded to APA members at the APA National Singles Championships held April 28 ““ May 1 in Las Vegas at the Riviera Hotel & Casino.  The National Singles Championships consisted of both the 8-Ball Classic and 9-Ball Shootout Singles Championships and the Jack & Jill Doubles Championship.

The final round of the 9-Ball Shootout featured three championship matches, one for each skill level tier, with two shooters in each match competing for $10,000 in cash and prizes.
