The game is eight-ball and you have the solids. The 8-ball is blocking the corner pocket. It wouldn’t help to make the 7-ball, and while there are various ways to play safe off the right side of the 3-ball, they don’t improve your chances, and they give your opponent a chance to play safe in return. An ingenious play is to hit the 3-ball squarely with low backspin so that it banks off the end rail and back into cueball.

LAKE SAINT LOUIS, MO (March 30, 2012) “” The entry window for the 2012 U.S. Amateur Championship opens April 1. Players interested in competing in this year’s event can download an entry form at www.usamateurchampionship.com.
Preliminary qualifying rounds for the U.S. Amateur Championship will be held throughout the country in late-September. The Men’s Division will feature 128 players, while the Women’s Division will feature 32 players.
Trvor Heal wins Tri-State event at $750 Added B/D 9 Ball event held at Port Richmond Billiards in Staten Island, N.Y. His tournament trail of 6 wins and 1 loss, included wins over Ed Culhane 7 – 0; Inna Bediner 10 – 8; Rajesh Vannala 7 – 4; and Gary Murgia 7 – 1; before suffering a loss to Bryan Jeziorsky 7 – 5 for the Hot Seat. From the loss side Trevor defeated Bill Suden 7 – 4, to face Bryan for a rematch in the Finals. ???
The first day of the TAP agenda was a National Meeting with an impressive attendance of licensees, as it was standing room only. This meeting was conducted by Founder, President and CEO Loyd Schonter, covering all details of the present and the future drive for TAP. It is very understandable that most discussions in this room were confidential and for only the TAP family however I am sure the Billiard Industry will be more than impressed with where he is leading the TAP Organization.  TAP proudly announced a new relationship at this meeting with McDermott Cues which was attended by their Representatives Larry Liebl Executive Vice President and Jayme Cernika Customer Service and Special Events Manager. They introduced their impressive line to the TAP family. McDermott also contributed $10,000.00 in cues and other McDermott products to the Rally in the Valley events in addition to this they had their Instructor nearby demonstrating the abilities of their cue line.

Koka Davladze wins Tri-State event at $1250 Added B/D 9 Ball event held at Gotham City Billiards in Brooklyn, N.Y. His tournament trail of 6 wins and 1 loss, included wins over Tony Ignomirello 8 – 7; Edie Perez 7 – 4 ; Quin Y. Chen 8 – 5; and Tyronnie Harlee 9 – 7; before suffering a loss to Nicholas Chan 7 – 4 for the Hot Seat. From the loss side Koka Joe Palone 7 – 1, to face Nicholas a second time in the finals. Koka finished the Finals in solid fashion with a 9 – 4 victory.
The final day of the 2012 Super Billiards Expo would find 4 players remaining in the Pro 10 Ball event. There were two on the winner’s side, Darren Appleton and Stevie Moore. On the one loss side was Raj Hundal playing Shane Van Boening. Stevie knocks Darren to the one loss side 10 to 7. Shane is running like an unstoppable machine taking out Hundal 10 to 1 then eliminating Darren 10 to 2.
Pedro Piedrabuena repeated as the Champion of Champions with a stellar 35 to 33 win over Hugo Patino highlighted by a run of 16.  Pedro was clearly the best over the four-day event, losing only once and posting a 1.440 grand average. Hugo suffered two loses and had the second highest average at 1.417. Trailing 17 to 8, Pedro started his run. When it was over, he led 24 to 17. Hugo seemed dazed for a few innings as Pedro built his lead but then Pedro faltered. The last three billiards were elusive, and Hugo staged a come back. At 34 to 33, Hugo missed a long-short-long shot but left Pedro with all three balls in a line. After pondering the shot for nearly a minute, Pedro played an up-down shot (long, short, long) for the win. Finishing third was Miguel Torres with a record of 8-2 and an average of 1.281. More to come later this week.

The event started with 68 top players. The event is double elimination race to 10. Day one saw the following top ranked players go to the one loss side, Johnny Archer, Earl Strickland and Shane Van Boening. But the big move from day one to day two is not the players but a cue ball change. Day one saw the use of the Red Dot cue ball.

We started by playing two games Friday night, continuing Saturday morning at 10am, until about 11:30 pm, when we finished he preliminaries. Sunday morning we played a four man round robin to decide the winners of the finals.
TAP Las Vegas awarded $270 to the ladies of TAP for their excellence in playing pool!
The day started with 17 players on 6 beautiful Diamond tables in a double elimination 8-ball tournament. In the end, first place was earned by Marilyn Kamealoha who went undefeated the entire day!  In addition to the cash, Marilyn won a place in the Western Women’s Charity Event to be held March 31 at the Rum Runner where she will compete in a 9-ball tournament.   Congratulations also to Debbie Evans in 2nd place, to Cindy Chappell in 3rd place, Leslie Weishar in 4th place, Nicole Civetz and Teresa Howard in 5th/6th place.

Paul Carbin has repeated the United States Snooker Association (USSA) Tour success he had last season at the Prince Snooker Club in Brooklyn, New York, as he captured Event 8 on the 2012 USSA National Tour, sponsored by Aramith Billiard Balls.
The inaugural year at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino, CSI’s 19th Annual US Bar Table Championships concluded Sunday, with Jeff Beckley going undefeated in the 8-Ball Division. It was a week of championship caliber pool, with outstanding performances in all six divisions: both Open and Women’s 10-Ball, 9-Ball and 8-Ball and with a record 502 entries.
