CueSports International (CSI) announces players are now able to register online for all upcoming independent events via the CueSports Tournament System (CTS) website (www.ctsondemand.com).

The online registration section of CTS went live Friday, January 7th.

Online registration is now available for the following events:

“¢ The 15th Jay Swanson Memorial 9-Ball Tournament
“¢ The 18th U.S. Bar Table Championships
Players who register must pay their online entries by credit card using a Visa or Mastercard. All players will be sent an auto-generated email confirmation for each event they register for.

Fighting Talk From US Open Champ

DARREN Appleton believes Europe has the best pool players in the world and that will lead to a home victory in this year’s PartyCasino.com Mosconi Cup.

Appleton is part of the European side aiming to retain the trophy this week after slumping to a disappointing 11-7 defeat in Las Vegas in 2009.

However, Appleton believes that loss will serve as a ‘reality check’ and claims his side were complacent and not motivated enough last year.

“œThe problem last year was we all expected to win and that’s the wrong attitude to have, especially in pool as the game requires luck at the right time,” said Appleton.

An attempt to surpass the current Guinness Book of World Records for the “œLongest Marathon Billiards Match” will be made by Gareth Steele of New England 9-Ball and Steve Reynolds of TJ’s Classic Billiards. These committed players have teamed up to shoot for a record attempt of 100 grueling hours of continuous billiard play to benefit the Billiard Education Foundation (BEF).

The WPBA Board of Directors notified its player membership today that WPBA field size will be reduced from 64 to 48 players for all 2011events.  WPBA Vice President Tamre Rogers commented: “WPBA fields were, in fact, expanded by the Board in 2002 from 48 to 64.

WPBA Women’s Amateur National 9-Ball Championships in November

Wynkoop Brewing Company in Denver, CO is hosting the WPBA Women’s Amateur National 9-Ball Championships November 19th-21st, 2010. The $1,500 added event also features a paid entry into the 2011 WPBA US Open. Any women amateur player can participate with the exception of the WPBA top-48 players post the WPBA 2010 US Open rankings.

More than $1 Million in prize money awarded in 30th Annual Team Championships

LAKE SAINT LOUIS, MO (September 3, 2010) “” The American Poolplayers Association’s (APA) 30th Annual National Team Championships saw a record number of teams compete in the newly expanded 10-day extravaganza. Nearly 2,000 8-Ball, 9-Ball, Doubles and Masters teams made the trek to Sin City to compete, Aug. 19 ““ 28, for more than $1 Million in prize money. Due to record participation, the event had to be extended an extra day.

On Wednesday, September 29, between 2pm and 8pm in the pro arena, the WPBA will be holding a Membership Drive Telethon that will be streamed live and free for the viewers. Tune in to wpba.com, the official website of the WPBA, for this special streamed show. Interviews and tips for your pool game by top players will be shown throughout the Telethon. For those who are interested in seeing what goes on behind the scenes, there will also be coverage of the players meeting and charity event. BILLIARD EDUCATION FOUNDATION AWARDS 2010 ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS

The Billiard Education Foundation (BEF) Academic Scholarship Program is pleased to announce the 2010 recipients of its annual scholarship program.  The scholarships are divided into two categories: BEF Excellence in Education scholarship ($5,000 awarded over a two-year term) and BEF Aiming for Higher Education scholarships (7 x $1,000 award). The objective of the BEF Academic Scholarship Program is to grant scholarships to high school seniors who have benefited from the sport of billiards and are pursuing a college education.
