Illinois State University to Host 2009 Junior Nationals & Collegiate 9-Ball Championships

The Billiard Education Foundation (BEF) is excited to announce that Illinois State University (ISU) will host the 21st Annual Junior Nationals and the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) Collegiate 9-Ball Championships on July 21-26. The collegiate event will be held Tuesday through Thursday, while junior competition will take place Thursday through Sunday.

World’s Largest Pool League and Billiard Retailer Reach Sponsorship Agreement

LAKE SAINT LOUIS, MO (April 16, 2009) “” Internet based retailer PoolDawg has reached a deal with the American Poolplayers Association (APA) to become an official sponsor of all APA National Championships. PoolDawg will be the official table spot sponsor of both the APA National Singles and Team Championships held in Las Vegas annually at the Riviera Hotel & Casino.

As part of the agreement, all participants in the national championships will receive a commemorative memento courtesy of PoolDawg.

The Predator International 10-Ball Championship

Las Vegas, Nevada- The Black Widow, The Duchess of Doom, The Texas Tornado, Kwik Fire, Little Lightning, G-Force, and The Viper are some of the names of the super powered billiard women attacking the 9th Annual Predator International 10-Ball Championship. Ozone Billiards will be presenting this year’s lineup of 112 players at the Riviera Hotel & Casino May 11-16,2009 during the BCAPL’s National 8-Ball Championships. In total, there will be a sizeable league of 13 world class women looking to make a serious dent into the egos of the men’s elite club.

Draw and Schedule Announced!

TWO members of the victorious European Mosconi Cup-winning side will go head-to-head at the 2009 PartyPoker.net World Pool Masters.

The event, which will be staged at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, USA, from May 8 to May 10, features 16 of the best players in the world, all vying for the $20,000 top prize.

The pick of the first round matches sees Tony Drago and Niels Feijen, two of the players who helped Europe win the last two Mosconi Cups, paired together in a mouth-watering clash.

It is unfortunate that Mr Gre Leenders a representative of the EPBF and the World Pool Association (WPA) would release such a misleading and inaccurate statement as he did during the midst of contract negotiations. It is apparent that the person responsible has been misdirected and lacked information. It is our hope that such a haste and inconsiderate action has not tainted the world of billiards.
Considering the current global economic climate and detrimental state of the billiard world, the production of a new event such as our Women’s World 10-Ball Championship would boost our industry with encouragement and that we would be a welcomed relief to the sport.

The semi final match was Rich Ross who would race to 7 vs. Mike Dechaine who would race to 10. The match was very close up until Rich made a critical mistake on a 7 ball. Would give Mike an opening, mike would win the match 10-5.
The Hot Seat Match was Mike Dechaine Vs tom Mcgongale the race would be Mike Dechaine would race to 10 Tom Mcgongale would race to 8. This match was a one way match with Dechaine winning it with the score of 10 ““ 3 and taking his spot in the Finals. The one loss Finals was Nelson Olivera vs. Tom Mcgongale.

The United States Snooker Association (USSA) continues to rejuvenate snooker in the United States in 2009 with its inaugural USSA National Snooker Tour, and the fourth stop on the Tour at Embassy Billiards Club – directed by USSA director Richard Ham – in San Gabriel, CA, February 17-19, enjoyed a full 12-player field. With a handicap system applied for this particular event, four round-robin preliminary flights determined the eight players for the final rounds. Each player received or gave a “start”, based on his handicap (example: a player with a “-26” gave a six point start to a player with a “-20” each frame of their match). Ye Fei Mei of San Gabriel, CA was the highest-handicapped player (-38) and thus considered the strongest player in the field based on past history.
